Safe Quiet Lakes - Your Lakes, Your Views 2021 Survey - Reminder

We are proud to be participating in the 2021 “Your Lakes, Your Views” survey with Safe Quiet Lakes.

Please take a moment to share the link and if by chance you have not yet voiced your views, there is still time to do so until Monday July 12, 2021.  Click the link below to go to the survey.

www.surveymonkey.ca/r/SQL2021

Your responses help us to understand the priorities of our members as well as providing information for advocacy and action by Safe Quiet Lakes.  The survey looks at what people value from their cottage experience, how they use the water and their boating activity concerns. Past survey data has been shared with Transport Canada, municipalities, the OPP and boating organizations.

We look forward to sharing the results with you in the fall.

We thank you in advance for your participation and support.

Seguin Township - Notice of Construction: Stanley House Road from Highway 632 to Steeles Road - Construction Dates: Monday, June 21 to Friday, June 25

A notice from the the Seguin Public Works Team

Stanley House Road has been exposed to endless construction equipment activity over the years and the existing surface treatment is beyond repair.

Our cold patch crews are currently exposed to many dangerous blind corners and speeding vehicles when repairing the road.

Staff plan to grind all the surface treated areas of the road, shape with a grader and repack the road with a large packer.  The road will be graded on a frequent basis until a long term solution is determined.

We appreciate your understanding as we strive to maintain our roads, while we protect the health and safety of all Seguin motorists, residents, and workers

Township of Seguin’s E-News was sent out May 21st.  If you missed it, you can read it HERE. It includes update on community programs such as swimming, town services such as garbage and a message from the mayor.

Support Cottage Country Hospital Care: PSRide in John Offutt’s Honour

Our long time LJNA member, John Offutt was an avid supporter of the Parry Sound Hospital. When a cycling fundraiser was proposed, John jumped in with both feet. Despite the pandemic the first fundraiser pedaled ahead in 2020. This year’s ride is in John’s honour.

How www.PSRide.com works: Riders will log into our website and track their rides throughout July and August.  In our kickoff ride, during the pandemic summer of 2020, 33 riders peddled 25,713 kilometers!  We hope to double the participation this year.  We will be peddling and tracking our kilometres daily.  Every day we ride, we get healthier (John would so promote that!).  Every pledge we gather, we get safer as we work to buy the 12 vital signs machines @ $3,500 each needed at our local Health Centre.  (John would love that too!) Your participation gets us closer to our goal!  Pedal on!

You can read more about recent foundation and hospital activities HERE including an update on Nursing Station operations and current COVID 19 precautions.

Due to ice damage last winter I lost an 8’ x 18” round black pontoon from underneath my floating dock in Stanley Bay. Should any members have have found it, I would much appreciate them letting me know at billoconnor@rogers.com.

Thanks. Bill O'Connor
