    AGM FOLLOW UP

Eighty families joined the AGM by Zoom Saturday morning, July 31st. The ‘broadcast’ from Gordon Bay Marine enabled us to work together in a safe space with a solid internet connection. Thank you Bruce Hatherley and Gordon Bay Marine for hosting us.  The AGM slides are posted to our website as usual.

We were pleased to have Mayor MacDiarmid with us. She covered progress on Council activities including: installation of fibre internet on the west side of the lake, planned road improvements, taxes/budget, short term rentals and the plans for the West Parry Sound Area Recreation and Culture Centre.

There were questions on road work plans. Here’s the follow up from Mayor MacDiarmid and Peter Koppisch, Director of Public Works:

    • Work on Islandview Road will resume week of Aug 16. Moving in Monday or Tuesday and drilling will begin for about 1 week, followed by blasting.  Blasting should be done by week of Aug 30, where the excavator comes back in to place the blast rock, followed by application of some more gravel.
    • Islandview Road is scheduled to be assumed year round from Pheasant up to the turnaround this winter.
    • Hamer Bay Road resurfacing timing will be discussed in the 2022 Budget discussions.
