E-NEWS JUNE 2023

Fellow LJNA members and Lake Joseph Neighbours,

Hello from smoky, lazy Lake Joe. The forecast is that this will largely clear by tomorrow evening. It looks surreal.

A reminder that Seguin's Current Fire Hazard Rating is set to EXTREME/ TOTAL FIRE BAN. This means open burning and fireworks are currently not permitted.

I am writing with an update on LJNA plans for the summer, a link to Seguin’s recently launched survey on waste management, and some news from some of our local community organizations.

I look forward to seeing you at the AGM or one of our other events this summer.

Warm regards,

Nancy Cohen, President

Shoreline Alteration By-laws: Earlier this spring, Seguin asked for comments on their proposed Shoreline by-laws. You can learn more about the proposal HERE and read our letter of support HERE.

Floating Homes are in the news. The new proposal from Ontario will address only part of the problem. We believe that federal regulation is needed. A group of cottage associations, spearheaded by the Gloucester Pool Cottagers Association, are encouraging cottagers to have their voices heard. Here are some links to background information, sample letters to the Minister of Transportation and a petition.

Summer Dock Drop: Look for more news in our annual newsletter coming to your dock starting next weekend. If you can help with delivery, please be in touch.
