Since 1996 we’ve made great progress to preserve the quality of Lake Joseph North and maintain the natural beauty of the lake. Here are some notable LJNA milestones over the past 20 years:
2016 - Introduced our Loon logo in time for our 20th anniversary
2010 & Ongoing – help establish the Safe Quiet Lakes initiative with now over 80 Lake Associations involved
2007 – Negotiated three way agreements with the Township of Seguin, Clublink & LJNA re future development restriction at Rocky Crest site
2004 & Ongoing – supported the Muskoka Conservancy – over 13,000 ft of Lake Joe shoreline protected
2004 –2007 - Supported new Seguin Council, and joined Official Plan and Finance Committees of Seguin, representation on the Finance Committee is ongoing
2003 – Highlighted Seguin’s escalating taxes & debt problems during election year
2002 – Joined with the Muskoka Lakes Association in rigorous water quality monitoring on Lake Joseph North
1999 – Appealed to the Ontario Environmental Board and succeeded in requiring water monitoring restrictions on Clublink’s Rocky Crest development when no Township restrictions were required
1996 – Advocated for 1&1/2 storey boathouses– not previously permitted but with reduced structure size than was then permitte
