BRING A FIREBOAT TO LAKE JOSEPH

A campaign to better protect cottagers & residents with emergency services.

In July 2019, the membership of the Lake Joseph North Association overwhelmingly supported a proposed initiative to provide a fireboat for the lake. Volunteers have been working closely with Seguin Township and other partners throughout the year, including Gordon Bay Marina, who have generously committed to supporting the project through sourcing the boat and providing dock space for it on an ongoing basis. Seguin Township will own and manage the boat as well as funding annual ongoing training and maintenance.

The original proposal from Seguin's Fire Chief was to convert a used workboat into a fireboat. Due to demand and availability issues during Covid, there are now no used boats. However we exceeded our original fundraising target, raising over $175,000. This put us in a position to order a new boat with more sophisticated safety equipment onboard, meaning the new fireboat will be even more effective.

We are so grateful for everyone’s help to make this community project a reality!

Below is the information package put together by the committee with design (pro-bono) by Carly Hoffman of Muskoka Designs.

If you have any questions about the project, or would like to join the volunteer team, please contact Diana Piquette, LJNA fireboat project chair at diana@dunsolas.com  or any one of our Board Members.
